The path of our saws
The production of our high-quality hand saws is a process that combines precision, craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology. Production takes place in several carefully thought-out stations that ensure the quality and durability of our products.
Material selection and cutting of the saw blade
Production begins with the selection of suitable steel. We use hardened tool steel for our hand saws, which is characterized by high stability and flexibility. The steel sheets are cut to precise dimensions using laser technology. CNC-controlled machines are used to ensure consistent dimensions and exact contours.
Hardening and tempering the saw blade
To give the saw blade the required strength, it is hardened. This is achieved through controlled heat treatment, in which the metal is heated to high temperatures and then cooled quickly. Subsequent tempering reduces brittleness and ensures an optimum balance between hardness and elasticity.
The right tooth shape
A crucial step is attaching the teeth to the saw blade. This is done with high-precision machines that laser, grind or punch the teeth at regular intervals and with a defined geometry. Depending on the application (e.g. wood, metal, plastic), the teeth are designed differently – fine teeth for precise cuts or coarse teeth for faster sawing.
Sharpening and setting the teeth
The teeth are now sharpened to optimize the cutting performance. This is followed by setting the teeth. Here, the teeth are alternately bent slightly outwards to reduce the friction of the blade in the cut and prevent jamming. This step requires maximum precision and experience in order to achieve the optimum setting.
Surface treatment
The surface of the saw blade is now treated to protect it against corrosion and minimize friction during sawing. For this purpose, the saw blades are given a special coating in an immersion bath and then polished.
Production and assembly of the handle
The handle is manufactured at the same time as the saw blade. We also manufacture these ourselves in our production halls. Our high-quality hand saws use handles made of robust, ergonomically shaped plastic materials. The handles are injection-molded in two components – the impact-resistant base body and the soft coating in the hand area – and carefully finished to provide comfort and a secure grip. They are then firmly attached to the saw blade.
Final inspection and quality check
Between the stations and after completion of production, each product is subjected to strict quality control. Among other things, the saw’s tooth sharpness, stability and ergonomics are checked. We carry out random manual tests to ensure that the hand saws meet the highest standards.
Packaging and shipping
After passing quality control, our products are packaged. From here, the saws “Made in Germany” are delivered to dealers or directly to our end customers.
Our Japanese saws:
Popular and award-winning
Our Japanese saws receive overwhelmingly positive reviews from customers and experts. They are particularly appreciated for their sharpness, precision and good value for money.
In a test of the F.A.Z. from September 19, 2024 our Kataba with bast handle was named the best Japanese saw. The pull saw impressed with its fine and precise cuts as well as its excellent price-performance ratio.
